It was no surprise. Some, though, were surprised to see Lizzo instead of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

It's hard to call the departure 'subtle' when it was announced before the live show AND there were two full sketches about Cecily leaving. Wiig's departure was graceful compared to Cecily's. (Also, what was up with Jost?)

I figure it was because she was his first co-anchor on Update; she served as the bridge when Seth Meyers left midseason.
