Philadelphia native best known as the young Creighton Chaney, son of Lon whom would eventually himself act as Lon Jr., in James Cagney's Man of a Thousand Faces (1957)... then spent multiple seasons as one of Ron Howard's buddies on "The Andy Griffith Show" (a line about Barney he had flubbed in rehearsal, was funny enough to make it into an episode in 1964)... yesterday (5/16) in the San Diego area; 74.
