Amongst the union’s complaints are that rates for streaming productions are oftentimes lower than for traditional networks and studios. The union also wants a shorter work day. 

As this article mentions, a strike in the US could conceivably move productions to Canada, but I’ve also read on social media of friends in the industry that New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia stand ready to pick up any willing film or TV projects.
