They have released "guidelines" for fan fiction that would kill Star Trek Continues, Star Trek Axanar, and Star Trek Renegades, among countless others.

My rebuttal to CBS & Paramount is simple: Do good Trek yourself. If you can't do good Trek yourself within a reasonable timeframe, don't piss on others who want to give it a go.

From the Star Trek Renegades Facebook page, the series is being reworked as non-Trek, despite having Chekov, Tuvok, and other Trek characters (and the original actors who play them). In fact, the next episode in the "series" was initially described as Walter's last on-screen appearance as Chekov. Nevertheless, the series has been renamed (simply) Renegades, though I doubt future episodes of a free random scifi series will get as much Kickstarter backing.

From the Star Trek Continues Facebook page, their series "trademark" is to produce Trek as close to TOS as possible in terms of sets, costumes, props, etc. Though they are asking fans to not boycott CBS or Paramount, they are... put mildly... screwed.

And the $1 million budgeted Axanar would appear to be doubly screwed.

"Star Trek Phase II" (formerly The New Voyages), which also uses fan-built replicas of original sets has called it quits. They preceded "Continues" by a couple of years and they also have had Trek alumni in the cast and crew.

I may be confusing my fan groups here, but wasn't Phase II the group that loaned some of their set pieces to "Enterprise" back in 2005 when they shot their tribute to the original series?
