I have to say that OBS (host broadcaster) continues to really innovate with its camera work.   The first time I noticed (and heard) the use of drones was in aerial skiing.       But then I saw video from a drone following a luger for the first couple turns down the covered track.    That's crazy drone piloting.

I state this on this NBC thread because I heard a US radio host say "NBC is really going cool things with drones".     Uh, no.... it's the OBS that provides all the sport video.    Regional broadcasters may supplement with their own cameras here and there, but I believe the majority of the video comes from OBS feeds.

Yes - we're seeing these drone shots in all the coverage globally, and they're provided by OBS as you say. I'd note that OBS themselves hire in from a variety of places. Ski jumping coverage has had drone flying for a while, so I'd suspect that it's regular World Cup Ski Jumping teams that are doing the coverage in Italy. In general most sports have specialist camera operators and directors who get hired in for coverage. I think the luge/skeleton/bobsleigh coverage is pretty new though. According to an Athletics piece I read, the camera was designed especially for these Olympics and is being flown by the company that built it Dutch Drone Gods.

Personally, I'm loving the drone coverage, and the skill of the operators is remarkable. I think the only real question is whether they can filter out some of the sound they make which I know can be divisive.

Adam: I could hear it during the luge coverage, but it wasn't that intrusive.
