Here's a quirky little British comedy series about the team of
planners and marketers for the 2012 London Olympics. Shot very much
the same way as "The Office," it features Lord Grantham from "Downton
Abbey" as the head of the office. It made me laugh a few times, but
mostly it made me really detest the marketing woman.

Those with the BBCA should be able to watch this next week, if the promos during Top Gear were any indication.

Siobhan, the marketing lady, I'd an utterly brilliant caricature who reminds me of just about every PR person I've ever met.

Really worth sticking with this. Far too true apart from anything else.

Oh yeah, she really makes me cringe, which ought to be the reaction
made when one encounters a marketing hack.

Episodes one through three Thursday night at 10 p.m. (the 40 minute time slots, meaning unedited), the final two parts (I assume final, since the 1:20 a.m. slot is what I believe is the third holiday special ep of "AbFab" that has yet to be aired in the U.S.) on Saturday night at midnight in the Ministry of Laughs block.  All times Eastern, of course.

And it should be pointed out that the BBC is the host broadcaster for the London Games.  I don't know how savage the satire is, but I would assume that if Chicago had received the 2016 Games and this was pitched to NBC, it wouldn't even make it to pilot.

Pretty savage, as it shows the team to be fairly incompetent.  But it's close enough that you could just about believe it. Seb Coe (the real head of the organising London Olympic committee) pops up a few times. However, the logos are different, and they have to tread a careful line in talking about the games.

When this series first aired, there were complaints from Australia who said that the BBC had ripped off a similarly-themed series that aired there in the run-up to the 2000 games. Not having seen that series, I don't know how accurate it would have been.

I'm told that there are a handful of specials due to air just ahead of the games.
