And, interestingly enough, the creators of a parody of the film that played last year at the LA cabaret Rockwell (home of a musical takeoff of "The O.C." and a series of movie director salutes called "For the Record" that uses verbatim dialogue from the films without getting permission).

Variety (link): While Kumble said NBC and producer Sony remain committed to the series, and cast options have been extended, sources suggest other outlets could be fixin' to step in...

The 2016 attempt at a series crashed and burned, but now a new effort is emerging, with Amazon Prime, through their Amazon MGM production arm, as the destination... the subject still holds, only the original castmember here is Sean Patrick Thomas, tho not in the same role as in the movie... this project was headed for Freevee, but has now been moved to Prime after they introduced a with-ads option...
