Speaking as someone who has watched an entire office of tech people frantically hitting F5 or Command-R during a Jobs dog and pony show to read live tech updates, I welcome this right up to the point where all the servers melt down, which they will. Remember: they had to beg and plead for people to not use wireless during the last show. I'd hardly them tech savvy.

I'm using my work-issue MacBook and running into more issues with the
wireless network disrupting the stream than I am with Apple.

Steve's mentioned that iOS 4.1 (out next week) includes TV rentals but
went on to talk about other things without getting into details.

Steve is just now starting in on iTunes 10... I suspect we're minutes
away from learning about it

I think the rentals and the AirPlay will be part of the Apple TV/iTV chunk.

 

The streaming was really good on my iPad using the 3G of my jailbroken iPhone and MyWi.

For those not watching, the new version of Apple's TV device will
feature all rentals instead of TV purchases (.99 cent TV episodes
commercial free, though only Fox and ABC have agreed so far)... the
device will also now connect to Netflix... hasn't mentioned whether
this will be available on other devices with iTunes.

You can, however, still purchase shows and movies on your computer and stream from iTunes. All the other iOS devices can currently access Netflix. iPad was first and the iPhone and iPod touch followed just a week or two ago.
