>Leading off with the opening ceremonies, which will be shown LIVE during the day, then edited in primetime that night.

As previously mentioned back in February, air times for the 7/23 opening ceremony:

https://awfulannouncing.com/nbc/nbc-will-air-the-summer-olympics-opening-ceremony-live-in-all-time-zones.html

And starting Saturday, NBC will be airing various qualifying competitions in prime-time – truncated at the end of next week by coverage of the US Open from La Jolla, which will also bleed into prime-time (ET).

Referring to a 6:55 A.M. Eastern/3:55 A.M. Pacific start time as “during the day” — just how early in the morning does Bob get up?

That’s a lot of television I will be watching.

I always watch a lot of Olympics, but have a special interest this year as my son was supposed to be in Japan this year (originally scheduled to arrive in August of 2020). He is a long time fan of Japanese culture, and reached a long time gal of being accepted into the JET program to teach high school in Japan.

Every 2-3 months this year we got a message from the Japanese government that his entry to Japan had been delayed. In January we thought he was about 2 weeks from leaving until they delayed it again. It has been heartbreaking for him, and his parents.

It has been clear for a long time that the Japanese government was both obsessed with the Olympics, and incompetently managing the pandemic.

Has NBC always done the extra coverage for the West Coast while the East gets the local news?
