I watched the first half of the season premiere with my mom in law.
Seacrest is the generic host; he has no perceptible personality to speak
of; he says nothing therefore cannot be onerous or offensive. I noticed he
doesn’t use Sajak’s note cards when interviewing contestants; I don’t know
if he’s committing fun facts to memory (unlikely) or is getting fed
information into his ear via an earpiece or if there are cue cards off
camera (impractical).
 
I asked my mother in law what she thought of him. Her words, “Well, it was
his first day… maybe he will grow into the role.” She’s very optimistic if
she thinks he’s capable of growing as a performer.

was thrown out of a Trump press conference in 2015 for pissing him off--he
will continue to anchor until after the election and will leave the net at

I'm not a fan of Pasek & Paul's work, but "Pickwick Triplets" is a
fantastic song, both on its own and as a parody of a patter song - although
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that aspect of it is more on
co-writer Marc Sharman than on P&P. Also, where P&P are concerned, they
absolutely deserved the Oscar for "LaLaLand", but should have won for
"Audition", not "City of Stars".

Marcello Hernandez absolutely deserves the promotion to series regular.
Apart from providing Latino representation, he's very funny and very
talented, and always manages to exceed expectations even when given
absolute garbage from the writers.
 
As for Temu Bill Hader and black Pete Davidson...eh. Good for them, I
guess?

Drew's gotten better, but I still think he was the wrong choice for TPIR; you need someone who can read the room and adapt/improv, and honestly, that's never been Drew's strong suit (go back to the WLIIA episodes he hosted and tell me those final games weren't PAINFUL to watch.)  Hell, it's been how many years, and he still doesn't refer to the values on the Showcase Showdown wheel as dollars and cents.
