Dammit. Right now we've got "The Good Guys", "Lone Star", "Chase",
and "Police Women of Dallas" all filming in and around Big D (even if
"Lone Star" is pretending we're Houston) but a new "Dallas" will undo
decades of repair work to the city's image around the world.

Nah, the Dallas Cowboys (BOO!) have continued that tradition for years past the end of JR Ewing's reign.

Dallas has Bone Daddy's and Twin Peaks, both contain some of the most
attractive women I've ever seen in my life. It is almost enough to
make up for the insane weather and the fact you have to drive through
hundreds of miles of the ugliest nothing in the country to get to the
place.

Semi-related, I stumbled upon a film crew while cycling around
Huntington Beach today. Not sure what was filming, but the massive
crew took up two of the beach's parking lots. It was unusual to me
because the big studios tend to avoid the OC (don't call it that).

Dallas One Step Closer to Return to TV
By Robert Wilonsky, Wed., Sep. 8 2010 @ 1:12PM

Eleven long months ago we got word that while there'd be no big-screen
Dallas, TNT was eying a small-screen revisit to Southfork. Since then,
nothing -- at least, not till today. The Turner-owned network confirms
that "an updated version of the classic TV series" is indeed among the
four pilots ordered for both TNT and TBS. So, then, to the
description:

"DALLAS - Executive producer Cynthia Cidre, writer of the acclaimed
film The Mambo Kings and creator/executiveproducer of the TV series
Cane, has crafted an update of the long-running series about the
Ewings of Southfork, whose betrayals, jealousies and passions have
made them famous. The story focuses on the offspring of bitter rivals
and brothers JR and Bobby Ewing, who clash over the future of the
Ewing dynasty while the fate of Southfork itself weighs in the
balance. This project, based upon the iconic series created by David
Jacobs, comes to TNT from Warner Horizon Television."

I've got a call and an e-mail into Janis Burklund, head of the Dallas
Film Commission, to see if she knows whether they plan on shooting
Dallas in Dallas.

Calgary works just as well. And the Stampeders can fit the bill for
showing football.

Problem solved!
