While The Colbert Report website shows a new episode, Comedy Central and Sue's listings indicate a repeat.  This would be the second consecutive show where repeats were inserted last minute.

I have *no* information as to what's going on this time, perhaps it's an extended hangover from Stephen's hour with Sir Paul McCartney.  But the last time The Colbert Report was in sudden repeats, his mom was seriously ill (she recovered).

His mother died last week. I suspect the show will be dark for a few days, if not the rest of the week.

"In very unfortunate news for Colbert Nation and of course the Colbert family, Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert has died at the age of 92. She was the mother of Stephen Colbert, former congressional candidate Elizabeth Colbert Busch and nine other children.

Stephen Colbert suspended his show back in February when she first fell ill.

Her obituary in the Charleston Post & Courier calls her "the matriarch of a family of 82," and "an accomplished artist, a church leader, a businesswoman, a supporter of the arts and a woman whose profound faith was apparent in her daily life."

According to International Business Times, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Medical University Of South Carolina Foundation instead of sending flowers."

Thanks, Kevin and PGage.  I managed to miss this notice (HuffPo allergies, I suppose).  The relative lack of press seems consistent with the tendency of Stephen not to talk much about family when they're not running for office (though I think he didn't talk too much about his sister during her campaign).

Safe home, Mother Colbert.

I just grabbed the HuffPo story because it was convenient, but it was covered pretty broadly - however, as you say, all with the same minimalist information, relaying on the local obit information, without even a formal statement from Colbert of Comedy Central, consistent with Colbert's privacy regarding his family (given his personal backstory, one can imagine how close his relationship with his mom was).

I guess by now the east coast knows if Oliver made any comment about this on TDS...
