The "Burn Notice" creator was in the right place/right time earlier this year when the classic property, which owner Fremantle brought to the network only months before, booted its original writer Lara Olsen... original execs Berk, Schwartz and Bonann all return, but tax credits may determine whether filming returns to SoCal:

Director McG signed on as an exec since I reported the return, and this past week Stephen Amell joins as a character with the same surname, Buchannon, as The Hoff's OG-series role... the SoCal-filming issues have apparently been resolved:

According to Wikipedia McG’s name is Joseph Nicol and he is 57 years old. When is he going to give up being one of the cool kids? Even if he is keeping the nickname for branding purposes it’s not that hot of a property.

It's not mentioned in the HR article, but Amell's character is meant to be the son of The Hoff's character from the original run (previously played by Jeremy Jackson), so the implication is that this is a continuation of the original series' timeline, not a full reboot. (And, presumably, that Hasselhoff could show up as Emperor of LA County Beaches or something.)

They also said that about Charlie's Angels, ah theenk. The only thing I remember about "Fastlane," the series he helmed at Fox, was a "hey, aren't you..." cameo by Dale Earnhardt jnr (still active as a NASCAR Cup driver then) in one episode...      B

Another addition, and this time it IS from the original... David Chokachi as Cody Madison, whom now runs the beachside bar and grill:

Baywatch existed and was successful pre-internet, and it attracted a certain demographic who believed scantily-clad humans on television constituted entertainment (not a judgment call; there was a time I could count myself amongst their ranks). But anyone with a phone or a tablet can find scantily-clad anything within seconds now, and they don't need to endure bad acting in the bargain.

I understand it was once the most valuable international property, so the compulsion to try to resurrect it was going to be too big to resist, but there is no audience for this series anymore.

Scantily clad young women seems to be in the province of reality TV and I don’t see why people would bother with a narrative series. I expect this Baywatch will have as much in common with the original as Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver did with theirs.
