From the "We Knew This Was Coming" file, CBS has bought the U.S. rights to "Lingo," the original guess-the-five-letter-word game, and will bring it back later this year with your host RuPaul--yass queen:

Created by Ralph Andrews ("You Don't Say!") and originally with a bingo element after you guessed the word correctly, it ran from1987 to 1988 in the U.S. in syndication hosted by Michael Reagan (Ronnie's other son) and Andrews himself in a shot-in-Canada production that went off because contestants weren't getting paid their winnings and then took off in Europe in the 90s, with Andrews selling the format to the Netherlands' IDTV.  Game Show Network ran a second U.S. version in the oughts and early teens, with Chuck Woolery and later Bill Engvall hosting.  A UK version that drops the bingo element is in its second season on ITV.

ItsBeenOnTVToo: Many outlets posted this tale of an elderly woman in Chicagoland rescued from a home-invading wacko using some form of "Wordle saves a life," though it's really a case of "always keep in touch with your family" not specific to the game...  https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-wordle-mother-saved-lincolnwood-20220211-ecz5istdfrhvzdin4kibdwyrmi-story.html (link)     B
