Talking with radio/TV personality Charlamagne the God ('toob linked), he said, “I have a weird feeling in that building, where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for — if I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke ... I really wanted last year to be my last year, but I’m still around.”

If he tried really hard, do you think he could be a bigger douchebag?

Sounds like he just needs to do a little fishing.

"Send Pete off to do this, send Pete to take care of that… take care of some little unimportant night club here, and there; pick somebody up at the airport. I was stepped over! … It ain’t the way I wanted it! I can handle things. I’m smart. Not like everybody says, like dumb. I’m smart and I want respect! "

Davidson is the rare SNL performer whose off screen issues are better known than his on screen contributions. I respect Pete for doing interviews and being open about his mental health problems and I respect Lorne and NBC for not using those problems as an excuse to boot him off the show. I don't watch regularly but from what I've seen the current cast is solid, a group of team players who aren't treating their time on SNL as a stepping stone to stardom. If Davidson were to walk or to be helped off the set in the near future the show won't suffer.

I suspect the key to this interview is the closing line in the Variety article: “ Davidson’s new comedy special, “Alive From New York,” is set to premiere on Netflix on Tuesday.”

Specifically, *last* Tuesday (Feb. 25th).  I queued it up a couple of days ago to see what we get.  I almost made it to the 15-minute mark.
