Born 76 years ago in NYC, Diane Pine had that professional name suggested to her by songwriter/producer Bob Crewe because it "sounded British." Among many roles were as one of "Mudd's Women" with her next-door neighbour Roger C. Carmel in the inaugural season of "Star Trek (TOS)."

After listening to "Soupy," I think it does have something to do with Mr. Sales (as Wally Bruner called him on "What's My Line?" when he was in his John Daly mode).  At that time, he had a daily show on what was WNEW in New York (and was syndicated) and had a hit record called "The Mouse," another one of those dance instruction records.  With all of the references to mice in the lyrics to "Soupy," I think that Ms. Thrett's record was an answer record to "The Mouse" (a tradition that's more of a country music thing).
