I’ve been thinking about an ideal lineup for a news network. Here’s what I have so far:
Mornings: Basically recreate the FX morning show, or at least get Tom Bergeron
Middays: Soledad O’Brien. No pundits. The only people I want talking on the news are journalists reporting the news or people who are directly involved in the events of the day.
Prime Time: One newscast devoted to global events hosted by Daljit Dhaliwal and Cristian Amanpour. A second newscast devoted to national events without a host... reporters on-scene introduce their own stories.
Get a string of documentarians to produce long-form documentaries and biographies to air between the three main news times, with only top of the hour summaries of the news unless there’s a breaking story. They can also run overnight.
Bob Costas, Marc Maron, and Whoopi Goldberg each get an hour a week to interview whomever.
