Miley Cyrus will be the musical guest. She did a pretty good job with rock and roll.

Elon Musk not only molests collies, he digs up the remains of dead collies and molests those.

This is what Lorne Michaels helped to do to Trump, to humanize a whack-job sexist conspiracy theorist whose hype far overshadows his actual level of success. Musk should be held accountable for all the lies and con-jobs he’s perpetuated over the years. Until that happens, I’m not interested in watching him butcher what will already be an unfunny monologue.

There are two things I like about Elon Musk: the booster rockets that can land, and Starlink Internet (omg what a change for rural).    That's all.

As much as I try to watch SNL regularly I am undecided if I will watch this.

I've been noting that, since 1975, I've never missed an episode, not even in the deepest dregs of Wiig or McKinnon. No matter how awful it's gotten -- and these last two seasons have really had to excavate to find new bottoms of the barrel -- I've tuned in.

There's not a chance in hell I'll watch this one. Either of them on the show would be intolerable. Combine them and I have to wonder if Rockefeller Center won't collapse into a black hole of terrible out of self-protection.

Miley Cyrus has a great voice. She seems to have gone all in on having provocation as a persona and it leaves me cold. I don't listen to the radio stations that play her but I would much prefer hearing her on the radio than seeing her on TV.

I think having Elon Musk guest host is a brilliant idea because it's so stupid. His real participation will be over at the end of the monologue since he doesn't have the chops to carry a sketch. The natural sketch with a non-entertainer is one where the guest host gets roasted - I remember Peyton Manning being really good at that when he hosted. Musk's ego is too fragile so that sketch won't land any punches. Musk as guest host is brilliant because it's about the only thing that can make SNL seem cutting edge or controversial.

Miley seems to have toned down the provocative behavior in recent years (not that I follow her that closely, but I can't remember any major online brouhahas).

She performed a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" on one of the "SNL At Home" episodes just about a year ago.

In September 2019, I was paid to be a juror in a mock-trial version of the defamation lawsuit brought against Elon Musk by the cave expert that he'd called names on Twitter (for daring to say that Musk's plan to rescue the boys trapped in a cave in Thailand was unworkable). Musk wasn't there, but all I can say is that he was lucky that the cave expert's lawyer was Lin Wood, who became infamous a year later for trying to overturn the 2020 election.

After a trumpish tweet of braggadocio from Mr Musk, a couple of the lower-tier cast members are left muttering “What the X Æ A-12?!”

For reasons that are beyond me, this week's SNL seems to be live streaming globally...

Except, that it's not in Australia, Canada or the UK - I assume because they have existing deals in all those places.

I would also point out that 11.30pm ET is 4.30am local time in the UK, and 5.30am local time in most of western Europe. Boxing fans might put up with those kinds of timings, but to see a billionaire make bad jokes...!

I happily ignore SNL on the Sky Comedy channel each week anyway, and will do so again this week.

Worked for me in Canada, but my ISP tonight is Starlink with Geo hints to Winnipeg and sometimes USA.

The monologue was better than I thought it would be. I didn't get the GenZ sketch.

I swear I've never seen him smile more than during this monologue.

He still dresses like a Connery era Bond villain.

It's not saying much, but there have been worse monologues this season.

Yeah, the GenZ sketch was assuming that young people slang was the same as jokes.  35 years ago it would have been Valley Girl Hospital.

Wow, his monologue was much, much worse than i expected it to be - and I expected it to be horrid. I did not expect NBC to not even pretend to be doing anything but using the monologue to try to rehabilitate Musk’s image.

Musk is an asshole, not because he has a mild case of ASD, not because he likes to smoke marijuana, even though that is the point SNL’s writers tried to leave us with.

They tried to make us think Trump was a swell guy, too.

Lorne’s sell-by date has long since passed.

Elon Musk helps SNL jump 33%, still has a punchable face.
