Omar Jimenez (who, oddly enough, is black) was mid-report when someone wearing a State Police vest zip-tied him and his crew.

The term you're looking for here is "police riot".

CNN didn't indicate that he was, eventually released. Variety did... https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/george-floyd-cnn-minneapolis-omar-jimenez-1234619821/ (link)

Back on V's main page, they left out a word... POTUS would have loved it, tho I don't think he looks there...

I was watching this live because it started pinging on my Twitter timeline and New Day is carried by CNN International. To be fair to CNN, they absolutely did cover the release which happened a little over an hour after he was arrested. CNN moved fast with their legal team and even Jeff Zucker, CNN's president, talking with the Minnesota governor within an hour - and getting an apology for what that's worth.

What was incredible is that his cameraman's camera was left "rolling" the entire time. They were using a LiveU backpack to get pictures back to CNN, and that uses cellular data - no cables or satellite truck needed. I think there are several SIM cards in the backpack, so full HD transmission is possible wherever you've got good mobile data reception. CNN kept a split screen going for a large amount of time showing what the camera was seeing, even though that was often just the back of a vehicle or a cupboard. When the team was finally released, they probably hadn't released the camera was *still* rolling and broadcasting as they swung it alongside themselves as they exited whatever facility they had been briefly held in.

While POTUS might have enjoyed it - although he's finding other wars to fight right now I see - it should be noted that all this happened when Europe and Asia was very much awake and watching jaws agape. Lots of UK/European journos I follow on Twitter were aghast. I saw more than one reference to "Gilead."
