I listened to Chevy Chase on the Dana Carvey and David Space “Fly On The Wall” podcast so you didn’t have to.
It went pretty much how you would guess it went. The “news” from the podcast is that Chase had a heart attack early last year and suffered memory loss. This came up when Chase tried to recall a Richard Pryor anecdote, then conceded he couldn’t remember it. His wife explained the medical event from off the microphone, maybe on the other side of the room.
Other than that, for 51 minutes or so, Chase had nothing to say. Carvey forced his laughs and that got annoying. Chase asked how Phil Hartman died, then remembered a minute or two later. He cracked a joke about Gilda Radner dying, but it fell flat. No discussion of “Community.” He kept saying Bill Murray killed someone, but it wasn’t clear if it was another bad joke or if he has enmity for Murray.
They were trying to wrap up the interview and Chase kept pushing it forward.
