A couple of guests on Marc Maron's WTF have talked about what a dick Mason was. One was a college student when Mason asked for a $500 loan and Mason refused to pay it back.

Closest I’ve seen to kind words are from Bruce Vilanch’s Facebook page.
The short version: Mason showed up at a party hosted by Vilanch. The party was for gay men, and Mason wasn’t a total d*ck about it. You can click on the link for the details, but that’s basically the story.

I’m sure any story in which Mason was not a total Dick about something would be in high demand for his obituary, as the “Sometimes he was less than a total Dick” section will be rather spare.
