CBC is doing a good job covering each provinces medical updates. The BC one each day is a class act of professional medical facts.

All well and good, but the CBC has temporarily replaced local newscasts (save for the territories covered by CBC North) with CBCNN's Covid coverage.

Yeah I've heard the complaints. No effect fur me, because I'm in Ontario which is mothership territory anyway.

On the upside, I do get to see a few minutes of Halifax local stories

Elsewhere in the Commonwealth:

Nine News has replaced its outlying 6pm news bulletins in NSW, Victoria, and Queensland with a statewide broadcast from the state capital (Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, respectively).

Until now, Australia's big dinner hour newscasts (the 5-7:30 p.m. time slot pulls in bigger audiences than the rest of prime time) were regional, not national across the board, except for the pubcaster SBS, whose 6:30 p.m. newscasts are national.  Seven and Nine's newscasts are at 6 p.m., Network Ten's are at 5 p.m. against the local versions of the British game show "The Chase" on Seven and "Millionaire Hot Seat" (as in "Who Wants to Be...") on Nine.  Ten's counterprogramming to Seven and Nine's newcasts are--another half-hour of news ("Grant (Dreyer)'s Celebrity Name Game," a version of the show SCG used to host, got moved to flanker channel 10 Peach) and the one-hour "The Project," a sort of cross between "The View" and "The Daily Show."  At 7 p.m., Seven runs the soaper "Home and Away" and Nine runs the tabloid "A Current Affair" (the inspiration for the U.S. tabloid of the 90s), while the ABC pubcaster's regional newscasts play.

The primary national newscasts in Australia are in the morning, where Seven's "Sunrise" and Nine's "Today" follow the mostly fluff format of the U.S. morning shows, while the ABC's "Breakfast," as you would expect from a pubcaster, is mostly hard news.  The one national cable news channel, Sky News, is still run by the Murdochs, not Comcast, and has become more like an Australian Fox News Channel in prime time in recent years.

I wish they’d carry the Quebec one, as it has also been very good, but it seems to be at the same time as Ontario’s (and mostly in French). I’m actually surprised the Montreal stations don’t pick it up over the air.

BTW, the CBC local newscasts have all come back, as of this week. Whoever the bonehead is at the CBC who thinks people will get their local news from radio, and not tv, needs to be defenestrated.

I noticed today that CPAC channel on YouTube covers most/all of the provincial pressers.

Fur Americans... CPAC is the Canadian Parliamentary Access Channel.

Glad you clarified, because for us, CPAC means "Conservative Political Action Conference" - a/k/a that time Dolt45 humped the American flag in public.
