I have not seen this posted here yet, perhaps because others find it as bafflingly as I, both that he seems to be so loved by SNL fans, and that he has been named host of the Emmys. I guess Bobby Moynihan was busy.

The only part I find baffling is that Kenan is a sketch performer and an awards show host should be a standup because the opening monologue is their main responsibility. I watched his monologue when he hosted the NHL Awards earlier this year and all of his jokes fell flat. It was clear he paid no attention to the sport and was simply reading what others wrote for him. Of course he’ll be more invested in the Emmys, but it seems like the producers are looking for a safe choice.

I haven't clicked on the link yet--is it safe to say that Lorne's producing?

The article doesn't mention Lorne, but it is NBC's turn for broadcasting the Emmys.

The AP article did not mention producers, nor did most other articles I saw. But Variety does. Not Lorne, but then, probably not much that happens at NBC like this goes forward without his approval.

“Ian Stewart, Reginald Hudlin, Byron Phillips and Jane Mun will executive produce the live three-hour telecast that begins at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. D+D’s Hamish Hamilton is also back to direct the Emmys for the fifth year in a row. Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment are behind the production.”
