A goodly list of confirmed celebs appear in a pee-arr relayed from CBS by TVWeek (link), though it by no means is complete... I'm glad some of them did get one last shot...

Julie Chen? I can think of a dozen civilians from Dave's earlier shows I'd rather hear from rather than her.

Back when Gary Considine was VP of NBC late night, he hired his main squeeze Rita Sever to cohost the Friday Night Videos show on NBC. Several more worthy candidates who roamed the NBC halls were so ticked off they used to throw things at her when they saw her.

Such is life in the industry.

No Leno?
(Seriously. Maybe they're holding the announcement until the last few weeks, but I'd be really surprised if he doesn't make the cut. The publicity value for both Jay and Dave would be tremendous.)

Publicity for what? Jay already has all the work he can handle and Dave doesn't know what he wants to do next. If jay has some days off in his schedule in the next month, those might not be the days that the Late Show has openings for guests.

With Leno unemployed and Dave soon to join the ranks, what exactly is the payoff for publicity for either one?  I’m sure CBS would love it, if they can coordinate it to happen during sweeps, but otherwise I can’t see how either Dave or Jay would care.

Does Leno have to appear on all of CBS' late shows this season? He already shut down SCG and started up BSG (= British Seth Guy).*

*Or maybe just "English Jimmy"?

I imagine the "James Corden fly" (tm Josh Robert Thompson) to be the Jimmy Fallon fly with a different accent, so English Jimmy sits well with me.

Yeah, not only is English Jimmy accurate in that sense, but Corden is actually is the English Jimmy in the current late night field.

As far as Leno appearing on the Late Show goes, Dave was talking to a guest not too long ago about how letting those kinds of resentments go was a good thing. So I won't be surprised if Jay comes on to bury the hatchet publicly.

Last night, Billy Crystal came on the Late Show and sang a very funny Marc Shaiman song parody tribute to Dave...

Note that whenever a celebrity's name is mentioned, we see a photo of that celebrity... except for Jay. They hold on the previous photo (of Carson) during that line. And there are lots of photos of Jay and Dave together, which they could have used - and which would have gotten a laugh. Interesting.

On Marc Shaiman's Facebook page, he put up a verse that didn't make it to the show:

"Paul and the band are sad and crying
Soon they will play their final riff
Wond'ring just what the hell becomes of Biff?"

Lots of funny back and forth with Will Lee and Tom "Bones" Malone on that thread.

For what it’s worth, Leno’s current stand-up schedule has him booked solid through April 26, and then he has only two dates…May 7th in Alabama and May 15th in Vegas…until the end of May.  So, he’s wide open as far as availability for just about any date Dave would want him to appear.

Dave’s put out the offer to Jay, and – according to the article – to BriWi as well.
