GM didn't tease its Silverado Electric ad, remembering an iconic series and its star with the help of two of its younger stars and, as it turned out, its creator and cinematographer... sure as F outshone its teased entry with Mike Myers et al...

I detest the whole Super Bowl Commercial culture. It is the only game I watch all year live, and so have to sit through the ads, but it’s rare that I see one that I would have been sad to miss if I were FF. The Sopranos add was one, though I disapprove of the ending.

Ha. I watched it on the BBC - at least until I fell asleep (not based on the game, but my timezone). We get it ad-free. NBC feed, but cutting away at every commercial break to the BBC's UK-based (this year) studio team to discuss the plays we've just seen, with Jason Bell and Osi Umenyiora, and for this game Efe Obada because he's British. I *think* there's a world-feed that means that they've got a couple of additional shots delivered during the breaks so that we're not just replaying the replays already seen.

Sky, who are the main NFL partner in the UK, also do their own UK-based studio show, although with some talent in LA. But they have some (UK) advertising, and I kind of like the J-Bell/Osi show. So I stuck with the Beeb. Sky also promised the four hour NBC pre-game, but when I tuned in, they were instead showing the NFL Network's pre-game coverage. That seemed a strange choice and I wonder if it was out of their hands. (Sky has a 24/7 Sky Sports NFL channel that does carry loads of NFL Network programming to fill out the schedule).

How man, I would love to get access to that feed. Plus, I would pay money not to have access to the pregame show.

My rates for coming to your home and turning off your television are very reasonable.

I may take you up on that for other reasons. In this case, I did not watch the pre game show, but find it so odious I would pay just to not have it corrode the internet tubes that connect to my house.  I would do the same for Fox News.

Someone once suggested that the Super Bowl was the event where the advertising industry says, "We'll actually put some effort into making watchable commercials, and in return, you won't switch away from them." A lot of them still miss, but the effort's there. And, for better or worse, the ads are a water cooler staple the next day.

<Cough> VPNs are your friend </Cough>

Might be worth a free trial next time around. Then BBC iPlayer and you're set. And because of football (soccer) highlights, the entirety of the Beeb's pre-game show was 30 minutes.
