The Brian Williams newsmag never was able to attract an audience and has been dropped from NBC's fall schedule, making the journalistically-tarnished "Dateline" as the net's only newsmag again:

Did anyone here ever watch it? I'd love to see longer form news stories in prime time, especially magazine style stories which pique my curiosity and give me insight to things I never thought about or experienced. I saw a little of Rock Center a couple of times and it never rose to that level.

The story line-ups were quintessentially news-magazine in style: heavy stuff
up front, lighter stuff in the middle, and full on BriWi-snark at the end
(aka "Rock Bottom") -- much different than the single, sordid story style of
"Dateline".

However, I still can't get over them hiring Chelsea Clinton as a
correspondent, as she was query-blocking the media for her mother during the
'08 campaign.

She's a brand name. I haven't seen any of her work as a correspondent,
so I have no idea how competent she is or isn't. (Same for Jenna
Bush.) I'm sure NBC expects her to draw a few extra viewers, whether
or not she actually adds anything to the show.

Well, if that is your criteria for not getting over things, you have a lot more to worry about than Chelsea Clinton, given how many former press secretaries, message managers and  surrogates get hired at all the news divisions on a regular basis. Pretty Boy Georgie S. blocked more messages for Bill Clinton than his daughter ever thought of doing for her mother, and he seems to be the golden boy at ABC. And you can't swing a dead cat without seeing a former RNC or former Republican Communications or Campaign Director on one of the cable news channels.
