The Google division is shelling out $8B for the rights to the out-of-market games package to the Internet's most-watched streamer--it'll be available starting next season as an add-on to the faux cable package YouTube TV or from the recently-introduced YouTube Primetime Channels, from which you can subscribe to various streamers and premium services:

DirecTV had the exclusive rights for many years and will lose them at the end of the season.

And in the Canada side, it looks like the rights remain with DAZN (da zone).

Heck, I just noticed tonight that the NFL game you get on Thursdays on Amazon Prime, are not available to me on Prime.  I have to watch it on TSN on cable, or the TSN app.

Peter King at NBC Spirts is reporting cost will be $300/season, which is a significant reduction to the costumer (current cost ~$150/month, which comes to about $600 for the season. I have not had it for many years, wow that sounds high).

I already use YoutubeTV, so I may try this next season, though still not sure how this will relate to the NFL RedZone, which I already pay some kind of premium for. I have a feeling that with occasional exceptions I would mostly want to watch NFL RedZone anyway, so may not feel worth it.

To clarify, that "$150/month" figure appears to be taking the cost for a basic DirecTV package and adding it to the cost for the NFL Sunday Ticket add-on (DirecTV charged the same $300/season as Google is going to be charging, although in practice, DirecTV usually split the cost across six months' worth of bills).

The difference is that Google will make NFL Sunday Ticket available on a standalone basis, but if you're also paying for YouTube TV (or any similar cable/satellite/streaming service), the total cost would end up being close to that "$150/month" figure anyway.

(Also, in practice, DirecTV would use NFL Sunday Ticket as a "loss leader," giving it free or at a discount to new customers and even some of their existing customers -- as an existing customer, I got it free in both 2021 and 2022 without even asking, with a midlevel package and the MLB Extra Innings package as my only premium add-on.)

Thanks for that; $600 did seem too high.
