The key thing about the Amazon LotR series is that the 250 million was just for the *rights*.
The actual production budget is on top of this! And it's reckoned that Bezos wants it to be massive, and there's a possibility that the whole commitment might end up costing Amazon $1 billion...

To clarify, this is the prequel series to the original, which Kev reported in November 2017... Adam knew about the expense back then...
