In "Going There," due Oct 26th, nobody is spared: Prince Harry, Larry King, Martha Stewart, Deb Norville, even her exes...

Still, she found parting with Matt Lauer "excruciatingly painful"...

Ashleigh Banfield hissed Couric's sending a Post staffer after her allegedly-senile father to get him to remove Banfield from Afghanistan duty...

Does she mention almost single-handedly destroying the credibility of CBS news with her horrific stint as anchor?

Since it didn't come back after she was gone it's safe to say she had a lot of help.

If you didn't bother with her Colbert chat, she has a longer one with Kara Swisher of the NYT (~42min audio): https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/28/opinion/sway-kara-swisher-katie-couric.html (link)      B

I have no interest in reading this book, no interest in reading about this book, no interest in hearing her talk about the book.

I do have some interest in how the book will do in the marketplace. From what I could tell (seems like it used to be easier to find this info) the book is #9 on Amazon this week. I suppose Top Ten is good enough to justify publishing the book (not sure how much she was paid).

I was Team Jane Pauley, but Couric was competent enough in her Today role. She earned my enmity when it became clear she and her bosses had conflated morning infotainment popularity with hard news credibility, which eventually flowered into the Peter Principle disaster that was her CBS experience.

Nowhere on the NYT bestsellers list (which is still the primary source for bestsellers since book readers still go to bookstores), but that is for the week ending this past Saturday--the book came out on Tuesday. It will probably show up on next week's list, which will be online, but not in the print Book Review section until Nov. 14.

Watched her with Colbert the other night, and was surprised at how unpleasantly unlikeable she seemed.

I can easily pass on the book version of that.

I was mostly an ABC person, and felt that Charles Gibson was much better than Katie. And unlike Couric, Gibson had a hard news background, which served him well when he replaced Peter Jennings. I don't know if   Roone Arledge had the idea of replacing David Hartman with someone from News, but it sure did pay off for ABC.
