This New York Times obit is worth reading to the end.

About 20 years ago, I went to a stand-up comedy showcase in the back room of a burger place in Hollywood. One of the performers was Amy Stiller. Her father was there to watch her, and he was prevailed upon to go up to the mic and deliver a couple of anecdotes. I can't remember exactly what he talked about, but it was definitely a highlight of my life. RIP.

Many will remember him for "Serenity Now" and Festivus

To me, he will always be Jay Buhner's biggest fan.

I read the obit this morning when I woke up to go to the bathroom (around 4:30 am PT). I was sad to read the news of course (I had been a fan of Stiller and Meara, and of course Seinfeld). But was not prepared to actually start crying, as I did when I got to the end of the NYT obit. I don’t know if they have awards for newspaper obituaries; if they do, this one should be nominated.
