His overall deal with Fox ended last June... this one will have him and Fuzzy Door Productions developing both internal and external projects, including for the upcoming Peacock service.

I'm guessing NewFox couldn't afford him anymore, and MacFarlane was skeptical about going to Old Fox (Disney) owing to some of his...shall we say, edgier tendencies?

Guessing both Foxes are catching onto the reality that Seth only has one idea, which he keeps trotting out in different disguises.

So does that mean I'm alone here in liking "The Orville"?

I didn’t dislike it; it just wasn’t any different than anything else Seth has created in the last two decades. If that’s your thing, you’re in luck.

Nope, I also like it (with a few quibbles that would probably apply to any sci-fi show).

Season 2 was much more Trek-like and he cut back on the humor. Definitely some good episodes in season 2 and season 3 will be Hulu exclusive.

I figured if I wanted to watch early TNG with slackers, I'd just watch early TNG.  The production values were comparable.  That the crew were sort-of screwups really wasn't a grabber.

I argue that the Orville is a better Star Trek than Star Trek: Discovery.
I have hopes for Picard.
