Disney, BBC End 'Doctor Who' Relationship

The deal, which had the venerable SF series running on Disney+ outside the UK and Ireland and lasted two series, a special and the 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, had some US fans screaming the "W" word agnd saying that Disney was ruining the franchise (even if BBC Studios was still the producer of record)--the Beeb said that there will be a Christmas special next year from Russell T Davies, but did not say if it will follow the ending of the last episode of the season, where Gatwa regenerated into Billie Piper's Rose Tyler character from the Eccleston and Tennant years:

There's also an upcoming spin-off series called The War Between the Land and the Sea which doesn't feature the Doctor, but has UNIT. It's due either later this year or early next year, and also falls under the BBC/Disney agreement. (There's also CBeebies pre-school kids' series said to be coming too).

I'm sure the BBC will continue Doctor Who, but it will be a question of budgets and scale.

Anyone who thinks Doctor Who (or Star Trek, for that matter) suddenly got "woke" hasn't been paying attention for the last 60 years.
