In TV terms, he costarred in the overhyped and underwatched “Amerika” miniseries about the US as a Communist nation.

In film terms, the movie “Millennium” was bad, and though he wasn’t entirely to blame, he didn’t help. 

Others on social media pointed out that when Sinead OConner was getting booed on SNL, he was the only one to offer her any comfort.

He was in several bad films, but *Lone Star* off sets most of that. Nothing will ever justify his work with Jane Fonda in *Rollover*, a truly bad film (though to be fair I spent most of it making out with my then college GF in one of the back rows, so no complaints from me. A good film and performance would have been a problem for me).

He wrote some very good songs. I agree with him that others sang them better than he did, though partly that is because of the quality of those others. And his time on stage with the Highwaymen still delivers goosebumps. Not a bad career at all.

I was reminded yesterday that he played Whistler in the "Blade" franchise - and that because his take on the (new to Marvel canon) character was so good, the Spider-Man animated series rewrote their Blade episode to include his character; the episode aired well before the movie made it to theaters.
