He made so many wonderful shows that gave me a lot of laughter, (and some tears) .
Many are considered classics now, and I am grateful for his creativity.
May he rest in peace.

My friend and mentor Lee Shallat Chemel posted this this evening:

"Way back in the 90s I got a script from my agents for a series called Friends. I got the offer to direct the pilot. I accepted right away! About 8 hours later they retracted the offer. Jimmy Burrows had read it and wanted to do it. If I had been the writers of that script, I would have fired myself and hired Jimmy. Because he was the top.
A couple years later I asked a showrunner I was working with what he thought made Jimmy Burrows great. He said, without a second of hesitation,"He adds two laughs every scene, every run-through." If you know multi-cam, that's it right there.
RIP Jim Burrows"

As I was growing up, I watch a LOT of TV. Lots of sitcoms.   Jim Burrows impacted so much of what I watched.

Now I should go finish reading his biography book that I'm only a quarter was through.
