It has been planned for some time (and NBC programming is off of the streamer), but Iger was making noises earlier this year about Disney refocusing to the basics, which started some chatter that the more adult Hulu wouldn't fit with Disney+--however, they are going ahead with the buyout, which they are estimating will be over $8B when the deal closes next year:

It is possible that Hulu could be repositioned as a hub within Disney+, as is their Star hub overseas (and separate streamer Star+ in Latin America) and possibly renamed Star for uniformity's sake, but considering that Republicans would probably go into a tizzy of the thought of Tommy Lee's talking penis from "Pam and Tommy" on the same home screen as Mickey and Minnie, maybe not.

I remember when Disney launched Touchstone as an adult oriented Disney enterprise, there were jokes about Pretty Woman being a Disney Princess… everyone adapted to the changes.

I have been on the side of those who thought this was inevitable. The Puck News folks have been advising Disney to pay for Hulu by swapping ESPN plus a big chunk of debt. The article here does not get into the details of the financial arrangements, but I suppose if it included the ESPN swap it would have been mentioned. Still, that is quite a cash outlay at a difficult time for Disney.

I have not seen this discussed in the list yet, or even in the media, but I noticed today that there is now a Hulu tile on Disney+, as suggested by Mark above. It does carry a “Beta” tag.

I have the Hulu bundle and I got an email from Disney+ saying they were making a selection of Hulu titles available on the Disney+ app. They also said the whole Hulu library is available on the Hulu app.

Thanks for that. I also have the bundle, but I guess I don’t open email from Disney. I will go looking for it.

Found it (I guess I am filtering Disney email to my spam filter).

I’ve been in the camp that has longed thought integrating Hulu into the Disney App was inevitable. Do they have to wait on the full integration until the deal is final?

I don't have the bundle, but I reupped my Hulu sub on Black Friday for $0.99/mo using the same account as my D+ account; the system must THINK I have the bundle, because I have visibility on the Hulu Beta tile in D+ as well.  Works well, until I get served an ad which causes D+ to crash (at least on my AppleTV.)
