They don’t have the money to produce late night television, but they can pay a billion dollars to stream reruns of a formulaic, one note series that hasn’t been culturally relevant in decades. Can it be because Trey and Matt are right wing extremists?

I believe they prefer "libertarian," who once were the people who did the work in the anti-Vietnam movement while Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies were being performative. Nowadays, it seems "libertarian" means "Republican who smokes weed."

While I'd hardly say that Matt & Trey are bleeding heart liberals, I'd be hard-pressed to say they're MAGAts after the way they dismantled T**mp during his first term. I agree with Mark - libertarian is probably the better designation.

I have no idea how they feel about Trump specifically, but their racist, sexist, and generally intolerant of tolerance stance pushes them far beyond the annoying indifference of a libertarian.

Regardless, a billion dollars is an obscene amount to pay for a single joke, especially as they are claiming financial hardship as the reason for ending two hours of its programming day.

I totally agree with your definition of Libertarian, but can only agree with your time frame if “nowadays” means the last 25 years.

I also would not use Abbie Hoffman as the exhaustive or even typical representation of Liberals in the 1970s. There were plenty of card carrying liberals who did the hard work of protesting against and ending the Vietnam war, though I agree in those days liberals could work productively with Libertarians.
