WarnerMedia tees up shot at PGA channel

The PGA Tour is soliciting bids for media rights starting in two years’ time.

 

So even though Kabletown has THE Golf Channel, WarnerMedia could conceivably throw either HLN or truTV under the golf cart and converting it to a PGA Tour-focused channel if they win the bid.

Would it be great if there was a channel that just showed news headlines and two to three minute stories with no opinions?
They could even call it a “Headline News” channel.

I have an app that does that and I even get to pick out the stories.

Unfortunately, TV ad buyers seem to have problems with cable channels formatted like radio stations that have brief time-spent-watching figures.  See the original all-news, all-the-time HLN, the Weather Channel and of course MTV, VH1 and CMT.

Well, yeah.  And every music video ever is on YouTube and you don't have to have a programmer telling you what to listen to or Mark Goodman or Martha Quinn reading off a prompter (not to mention paying two bucks a shot on a 900 number for a request like The Box)..
