Hartley Sawyer ("Elongated Man"... I think my mom found paper comics of him someplace when I was little) made the misogynistic/racist posts in 2012 and 2014...

There is a great service called TweetDelete that will automatically delete one's old Tweets. Since it is really easy for Tweets to be taken out of context (not saying his were, I haven't looked at them), it is really something that everyone should use. You never know what a potential employer will look at. It seems like something agents should push their clients to use.

I know many of you aren't fans of Aaron Sorkin, but there's a great line from "The Social Network" that applies here:

"The internet isn’t written in pencil Mark, it’s written in ink."

Yes, you can delete tweets, or IG posts, or blogs, but there's always the Wayback Machine, and you never know who from your past has grabbed incriminating screenshots to drop at JUST the right moment. Once you put it out into the world, it's REALLY tough to walk it back.

The other point I’d add is that Twitter isn’t a chronicle of events from the days of Martin Luther King Jr or even the Nixon or Reagan eras. It’s not as if sexism or racism were only recently deemed inappropriate (insert sad Trump commentary here). I’m not one to use the slang definition of “woke,” but any adult who wasn’t “woke” to this sort of stuff in the last decade is frankly going out of his or her way to stay asleep.

I’ve said and written a lot of things I regret... some of it here in this group. But I don’t post anything on the internet unless I’m prepared to have it exist for the next millennium.

One of the things that blows friends of mine out of the water was that, until the mid 90s (so roughly early 20s), I was a pretty staunch Republican (complete with inappropriate but definitely not illegal behavior). I had some liberal leanings, but truly nothing like this. And if the shit I did back then was in any way still documented, it would not be good.

There's a longer story to tell about digital natives, pioneers, and immigrants, but I'll save that for another day and thread.
