This NYT excerpt from Ben Mathis-Lilley's new book "The Hot Seat," which follows the 2021 season at the University of Michigan and comes out Tuesday, invokes Karl Marx at attacking the Worldwide Leader (and Fox Sports on the side) for too many commercials and sponsorships, attacks at Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for not making the CFS (televised by ESPN) and all of those debate shows on the sports channels:

Thanks for posting a guest link to the article. The NYT paywall has become frustrating to deal with, enough that I have started ignoring links, even though I know the workarounds.

Around 15 years ago I started watching the SEC game at 3:30 on CBS. I have no school affiliation to that conference but the games looked compelling. I have noticed my interest waning in recent years and I’m probably done with it for good. I wonder how much my change in attitude is due to the changes Mathis-Lilley brought up.

Ah, share links. Something I have to remember to use more often... just like having to remember never to start major Windoze updates until I go to bed at night...     B
