Any chance they can make the hiatus permanent?

If only.

His people are claiming he was vaccinated, so expect even more than the usual misinformation from him upon his return. I predict Trump’s post Covid rantings and ravings will seem tame by comparison.

I guess he needed to lose some weight.

Maher just did a monologue where he ripped those he said exaggerated the dangers of COVID-19.

For the record: Breakthrough COVID infections do occur, but very rarely

“the most recent data from the CDC reports only 9,245 infections in 95 million fully vaccinated people, an infection rate of less than 0.01 percent.”

It is possible that Maher got COVID after being fully vaccinated, but given the know facts I would say it is more than .01% likely that he is lying.

***Note, I went with the .01% to heighten my Burn; the CDC acknowledges that this is likely an underestimate, due to under reporting of COVID in asymptomatic vaccinated people. However, if Maher really was funky vaccinated and now has asymptomatic COVID, it is likely that the mildness of his disease is due to his vaccination.

Eight New York Yankees employees (including one player and three coaches), all of whom were fully vaccinated, have tested positive for Covid-19 this week. Almost all are asymptomatic.

What this has in common with Maher is that both these groups are subject to frequent testing: Major League Baseball personnel, and people who work on television productions.

And their poor Triple-A club in Scranton hasn't finished its weeklong series (now de rigueur in the minors) with my Lehigh Valley IronPigs yet... :-/

Exactly. That’s one reason the CDC estimate if breakthroughs is so tiny - most vaccinated Americans are not tested frequently even without symptoms.

It seems it would be worth aggregating results from multiple tastings of vaccinated people in sports, entertainment and politics to try to get a more accurate breakthrough number.

It should be noted that the Yankees used the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which has 60-70% efficiency which is much lower compared to Pfizer and Moderna's vaccines.

As a lapsed NY Jets fan the Yankees should have been smarter than to use something who's name is attached to failure like the Johnson family is. (Looking at noted racist/sexual harasser Woody Johnson)

It should be noted that 60-70% efficiency is still higher than typical flu shots. Also should be noted that the rate of hospitalization of people with the J&J shot who get Covid is so nearly 0% that it rates at 0% on the official results, which is why I personally chose the J&J vaccine. The other two vaccines have lower percentages of contracting Covid, but higher rate of hospitalizations.

It should also be noted, and I cannot emphasize this enough, that Bill Maher molests collies, so it is likely his actions and subsequent infection will lead to an increase in Covid infections in canines.
