The country singer-songwriter and icon started her career in television when she teamed up with singer Porter Wagoner on his long-running syndicated TV show (which in most cases wasn't seen in urban areas)--after leaving his show (and writing "I Will Always Love You," later a huge pop hit for Whitney Houston, as a tribute to Wagoner) and kept a few connections to the medium as she became a star in music and movies, including a 1986 ABC variety series, but was an impressive figure in all areas of show biz (and I don't mean that impressive figure) for her philanthropy and her embrace of all people of all faiths, races, genders or beliefs--the world will not be a better place with her departure--last Tuesday in Nashville, no cause announced:

A wooden box at Dollywood contains a song she recorded in 2015, with instructions that it not be unsealed till 100 years after her birth in 2046. She even threw in a (portable?) CD player to play it:

A reminder, wood burns.

A Federal district judge invoked Dolly this week in striking down Texas' drag-performance ban, saying it's overly broad and unconstitutionally vague (again... he'd done all that back in 2023)
