"The Apprentice," the biopic about the Republican candidate for president's relationship with the notorious Roy Cohn (played by Sebastian Stan and "Succession"'s Jeremy Strong) which has nothing to do with the reality comp that has been alleged of being the linchpin to why the easily deluded thought that Trump could be president, was well-received at Cannes, but had a problem in that one of the producers was a staunch Republican--that person has been bought out and indie distributor Briarcliff has acquired the film and is shooting for a wide opening on Oct. 11:

No matter how well the film does at the box office, one wonders if they will try putting it on VOD before the election.

This seems dubious to me… Watch it, don’t watch it, but don’t pay to keep it in theaters just to stick it to Trump… there are better ways of sticking it to Trump… for instance, not voting for him
