Apparently cobbling together some earlier reports, the latter occurs Jan 23rd.

Having access to Calif. tax credits spurred that along.

This disappoints me. Everything I’ve read about the new series is the whole story arc was intended to be told just in this single season/series. I was looking forward to a hopefully well-conceived update to the Next Generation. I was already skeptical knowing the Discovery creative team is behind it... now I’m expecting the worst.

I won't pre-judge anything - I mean Chernobyl was created by the guy who wrote the Hangover movie sequels! But this first season at least has Michael Chabon as showrunner, and I'm very interested to see what he does. Also, I've read and seen basically nothing beyond a couple of trailers. Going in cold is always best...

There’s nothing wrong with having a second complete story arc for a second season.

Variety did a story on Patrick Stewart. The image of him on the cover is, objectively, awesome!
