Longtime set designer for SNL and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. 

Three-time Tony winner for set design (including "Wicked") and member of the American Theater Hall of Fame. 

He was 83.

Lorne has said that when he came to New York in 1974 for the meetings that first led to SNL, he was asked if he had anything to do that night after the show, and when he said no, he was told "Go see 'Candide' on Broadway." He did, and soon hired Eugene, the show's set designer, to design SNL's sets.
