Kind of, though I suspect JT does not feel like a very big winner. He will remain Prime Minister (since he called the election it would have been humiliating had he lost), but he is not winning what he really wanted, but what Canada itself probably didn’t really need, which is a majority government.

Maybe the Canadians here can explain the nuances, but this, like California Recall, seems like a pretty big waste of time and money.

Obviously the final numbers aren't in, but it looks like the Liberals went to a lot of trouble to lose a couple more seats from the 2019 election - not to the Tories (who stayed pretty much level) but the further-left NDP.

It's a little more complicated than that, but not by much. Conservative gains from the Liberals were offset by losses to the NDP, and some seats where they were spoiled by the far-right (read MA FREEDUMBS) "People's Party" who seemed to poll pretty much 5% everywhere - enough to affect close enough but not close enough to win anything. The NDP was helped by the Green Party (which is further left) cratering. It kept its two seats, but elsewhere was a non-factor.

The results from tonight are roughly the same as 2019, with each party within three seats of what they were at when Parliament dissolved, so yes, PGage is right. This was a $600 million waste of time and an election where there really no winners.

I'm kinda surprised, more disturbed, that in my riding the PPC got 9% of the vote.    That 9 percent is going to have a have a hard time going into a restaurant for dinner, or into a gym,  after September 22 where you have to show proof of vaccination in Ontario.

At least the PPC leader lost his riding as well.
