Whatever CNN was paying him, he was overpaid.

The opening sentence of this article is:  “Chris Wallace is quitting CNN after three years as one of its biggest stars, he exclusively told the Daily Beast Monday.”

I find this telling, as I literally have forgotten that Chris Wallace was at CNN, and if he really is one of their biggest stars they are in huge trouble.

I’m sure this is mostly just another symptom of the changing pay scale in television news. He was likely looking at a significant pay cut to stay at CNN, And now will either see if there is still a streamer or podcast sponsor who will pay him seven figures a year or be able to fade into retirement under the guise of having left CNN on his own steam rather than being given an embarrassing pay cut.
