And moves all sports coverage to The Athletic, which NYTCo acquired early in 2022. "Journalists on the sports desk will move to other roles in the newsroom and no layoffs were planned, [executive editor Joe] Kahn and [deputy managing editor Monica] Drake said. A group on the business desk will cover money and power in sports, while new beats covering sports will be added to other sections. The moves are expected to be completed by the fall."

What they are doing is firing the union sports reporters and using non union people instead. The union is fighting it.
