My favorite commercial was the "triangle player" commercial for Doritos. The "triangle player of the year" reveal at the end really made me laugh hard. I liked the Dunkin' commercial too.
I wasn't crazy about Rihanna - the dancing and the spectacle were good, but the music did nothing for me. And as Darlene Love wrote, "Hmm … I have mixed feelings about Rihanna’s halftime performance… was expecting a high energy performance like
Beyoncé,
Bruno Mars, Janet Jackson and JLo."
Chris Stapleton was superb. Sheryl Lee Ralph was good but the lip syncing took me out of it.
As for the game - as a Philadelphian and a big Eagles fan, I have to admit that the holding call was not the deciding factor. The biggest factor in the loss was that the Eagles' defense, one of the best in the league, made almost no big plays to stop the Chiefs. They got outplayed/outcoached in that area, and when the Chiefs started making big plays in the second half the Eagles had no way to stop them. The second biggest factor was the slippery field, which the Chiefs were prepared for (the Chiefs equipment manager had been "in constant communication with the groundscrew all week and knew the Chiefs would need the seven-stud cleats for the field Sunday," said CBS Sports)
and the Eagles were not (Hurts changed cleats at one point because he hadn't expected the field conditions).
Overall, though, a pretty good game. Hard to see my team lose, but I can't deny that the Chiefs played better.
