Brief review: American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing

I recommend “American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing” on Netflix. There is fantastic video of the event and the 100 hours following as they track down the bombers. There was a lot about the case I didn’t know, including heroic actions by police and other first responders as well as inept police work.
But it almost lost me at the start. It is severely overproduced. The dramatic bombing video has lots of drama yet they use a manipulative, over-the-top score and too much fancy editing. I would have preferred a touch like PBS's “Frontline” and “Nova.”
Lots of twists and turns until they track down the brothers. Check it out.
