Primarily because he’s stupid.

Hornets radio announcer John Focke apologized Monday night for a tweet with the N-word about the Denver Nuggets vs Utah Jazz playoff game.

There's no link, so I'll save a step.

The tweet in question was this: "Shot making in this Jazz-(word) game is awesome! Murray and Mitchell going back and forth what a game!"

At the time of the tweet, the Utah Jazz were, indeed, playing the Denver Nuggets.

So you believe someone trying to type the word "Nuggets" would misfire and have the n-word appear?

Speaking as a swipe typer*: I can completely believe it.

* For the uninitiated: on mobile keyboards, you can type by dragging your finger from letter to letter on the keyboard. As you get better, you discover it's frequently faster than typing.

Nuggets nugget Nuggets Nuggets.

There, I just swiped Nuggets 4 times. I have never spelled the N word on my phone, so let's try to swipe that now:. Nugget nugget nugget bigger.

So... I conclude that the guy in question has swiped that word before, or its at least in his dictionary in the phone.

Yeah, as someone who is not at all a fan of ducks or ducking yet constantly seems to be posting about both on social media and in texts, I can tell you that swipe/autocorrect features go far, far out of their way to ensure you do not mistakenly type a bad word, so if that’s the supposed excuse given as to how an erroneous N word ended up on social media, I’d dispute such a claim

I don't care if he uses the word in every private email message he says. I'm absolutely willing to give a benefit of the doubt in a situation like this. It makes less than zero sense. The correct word is obvious. This was a human error. For fuck's sake: let's just be human beings and forgive rather than rush to crucify.

My brother Allen griped about autocorrection when he got his current personal phone... must have figured out how to turn it off.
